Work History: Jay M. Robinson High School, Cabarrus County Schools
For over 18 years, I have been proud to serve as a social studies teacher at Jay M. Robinson High School. In this role, I have dedicated myself to designing and implementing tailored educational programs, fostering collaboration among peers and students, and utilizing innovative technologies to enhance the learning experience.
Some of my proudest achievements include:
- Leading the School Improvement Team for four years, which strengthened communication and accountability across our school.
- Mentoring future educators as a Cooperating Teacher for UNC Charlotte, helping student teachers grow and thrive.
- Developing creative curricula, including contributing to the Cabarrus County American History Curriculum Map and individually creating an elective course on Civil Liberties and Civil Rights.
- Guiding teams as a Professional Learning Community Lead, where I focused on lesson development and data-driven strategies for continuous improvement.
- Being honored as a Teacher of the Year Nominee more than 10 times.
- Beyond the classroom, I’ve embraced opportunities to make a broader impact by serving as a Key Club Advisor and Prom Advisor for over a decade. I’ve also had the privilege of presenting at professional conferences, mentoring beginning teachers, and working as an AP Reader for College Board. Each of these roles has allowed me to grow as a leader while making a difference in the lives of students and colleagues.
